Pilates Style And Sculpt
This hybrid class draws upon the Pilates principle of “Contrology” (slow controlled movements) to develop a strong core (center) and long, lean muscles. It targets the abdominals, back, buttocks, and pelvic floor. With attention to proper alignment, we use free weights, stretchy bands, squishy balls, and a yoga mat.
Cardio and Abdominals
This class incorporates 40 minutes low impact aerobics followed by 30 minutes of abdominal strengthening and light stretching on a yoga mat.
Pilates floor work will be done on a yoga mat while seated, lying on our backs, on our sides, and prone on our stomachs. In some classes, we will use the stretchy band for some exercises and or a squishy ball.
Beginning with a standing 5-10 minute warm-up, we progress to a strength training workout using free weights and stretchy bands. We progress to floor work for total body conditioning using some of the Pilates principles on the yoga mat.
Strength and Balance
This class is done both seated and standing, depending upon the individual’s needs. We use free weights and stretchy bands. Lots of attention is spent on proper alignment to help prevent falls.
